Our Values & Goals

Guiding principles rooted in Canadian medical standards, the CanMEDS framework, and a deep commitment to alleviating suffering through expert pain care.

Our Values

These values guide every interaction, every decision, and every treatment we provide at Epione Pain Center.

Compassion at the Core

Chronic pain is isolating, exhausting, and often invisible to others. We honour the courage it takes to seek help, and we meet every patient with empathy, dignity, and genuine concern. Named after the Greek goddess of soothing pain, Epione exists to stand alongside you.

Clinical Excellence and Evidence-Based Innovation

Every treatment we recommend is grounded in current clinical evidence and best-practice guidelines. We do not offer unproven therapies. From diagnostic nerve blocks to spinal cord stimulation, cryoneurolysis to regenerative medicine, we embrace emerging evidence-backed technologies.

Whole-Patient, Multimodal Care

Chronic pain affects sleep, mood, relationships, and livelihood. Our multidisciplinary team of pain specialists, neurologists, physiotherapists, and psychologists collaborates to address every dimension: physical, psychological, and social. We prioritize the least invasive, most effective intervention first.

Shared Decision-Making and Patient Partnership

You are the expert on your own experience. We set goals together, explain every option transparently, and ensure you are an active partner in your treatment plan. We believe informed patients make better decisions, and we respect your autonomy at every stage.

Accessible, Equitable Care

Pain does not discriminate, and neither do we. Epione Pain Center accepts both physician referrals and direct patient inquiries, ensuring that no one waits unnecessarily for expert care. We are committed to creating an inclusive, barrier-free environment that serves patients of all backgrounds.

Our Goals

Measurable commitments aligned with Ontario Health quality standards for chronic pain care.

01

Timely Access to Expert Pain Care

Ontario Health recommends access to interprofessional pain programs within three months of referral. We hold ourselves to this standard and strive to exceed it, because patients in pain should not have to wait.

02

Multimodal, Evidence-Based Treatment Plans

Every patient receives a comprehensive assessment that considers functional status, mental health, social determinants, and the full impact of pain on their life. We develop individualized, multimodal treatment plans aligned with Ontario Health's 12 quality statements for chronic pain care.

03

Measurable Outcomes and Continuous Improvement

We track patient-reported outcomes, functional improvement, and treatment effectiveness. We participate in quality improvement aligned with Ontario Health standards and contribute to the advancement of pain medicine through continuing education and research.

04

Seamless Care Coordination

We collaborate closely with referring physicians, family doctors, surgeons, and allied health professionals. We provide timely reports, maintain clear communication channels, and ensure smooth transitions throughout the care continuum.

05

Culturally Safe, Trauma-Informed Environment

We recognize that chronic pain disproportionately affects marginalized populations and that past healthcare experiences may have been negative. We train our team in cultural humility and trauma-informed care, and ensure our clinic is welcoming, respectful, and free from discrimination.
